Research Interests

I am an immunologist who investigates how the immune system responds to microbes and cancer. My research interests include the investigation of mechanisms underlying the anticancer and immunomodulatory effects of natural products and derivatives.

A primary question that my research addresses is what are the benefits of natural products such as apples, berries and leafy vegetables on immune cell function?

Effects of phytochemicals on cancer

Can an apple a day really help prevent cancer?
What are the immunological and anti-cancer effects of those green leafy vegetables?
Are berries helpful?

Host defense peptides & Anti-microbial peptides

Why are these peptides preserved?
What roles do they play in the innate immune response?
