Research Interests

I am an immunologist who investigates how the immune system responds to microbes and cancer. My research interests include the investigation of mechanisms underlying the anticancer and immunomodulatory effects of natural products. In addition, projects in my lab also include research of immune response development through the comparison of newborn and adult immune responses.

A primary question that my research addresses is what are the benefits of natural products such as apples, berries and leafy vegetables on immune cell function?

Effects of phytochemicals on cancer

Can an apple a day really help prevent cancer?
What are the immunological and anti-cancer effects of those green leafy vegetables?
Are berries helpful?

Antimicrobial Peptides

Why are antimicrobial peptides preserved?

Neonatal Immunology

What are the immunological differences in neonates compared to adults?
How does this have an impact on vaccine and drug design?

DID you know Microbes are all around you?
