Melanie R. Power Coombs, Ph.D.
- I obtained my Ph.D in Microbiology and Immunology at Dalhousie University. I examined the innate immune response to Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection.
- I did my first Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neonatal Infectious Diseases at Harvard Medical School. I studied some of the differences in the the innate immune responses of neonates.
- I did my second Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pathology at Dalhousie University. I looked at the ability of some phytochemicals to influence the immune response, how iron chelators decrease the needed chemotherapy dose and how antimicrobial peptide from fish can kill cancer cells.
